Oscar 2010. Warum Jeff Bridges den Oscar für den besten Schauspieler gewinnen musste.
Irgendwo im Nirgendwo der Vereinigten Staaten. Ein abgehalfterter Country-Musiker (Jeff Bridges als Bad Blake) ist am Ende seiner Karriere: musikalische Angebote reduzieren sich auf so genannte „Spare-Rooms“, sprich überflüssige Räume bei Bowling-Bahnen und Kneipen, deren immergleiches Publikum mit dem einstigen Country-Helden sichtlich gealtert ist – das Ende nur eine Frage der Zeit. Die Geschichte rund um „Crazy Heart“ (Regie und Drehbuch: Scott Cooper) ist weniger innovativ, aber umso authentischer: Bridges säuft, torkelt und singt (Oscar für US-Musiker T-Bone Burnett für den besten Filmsong) sich durch den Film, als würde es auch für ihn als Darsteller kein Morgen geben – und spiegelt somit das vertrackte Dasein des Anti-Helden kongenial wider.
Der Oscar für den besten Hauptdarsteller ist – nach vier erfolglosen Nominierungen – die Bestätigung einer vierzigjährigen Karriere, und zugleich der Beweis, dass es kein übertriebenes „Method-Acting“ benötigt, um in die Rolle des hünenhaften und dennoch zerbrechlichen Musikers zu schlüpfen: Bridges kennt Niederlagen, Rückschläge und das unaufhörliche Aufbäumen als Schauspieler ohnehin.
Natürlich darf bei „Crazy Heart“ – allein schon der Titel erinnert an eine schwülstige Country-Ballade – auf ein versöhnliches Ende gehofft werden. Für Bridges ist es gewiss der Zenit seiner Karriere. Möge er sein Alterswerk munter fortsetzen.
